Working with Clients: What I Wish I Knew Earlier

Introduction
Have you ever opened an app and instantly felt it was well made, without being able to explain why? Most of the time, it isn’t a big feature or a fancy animation. It’s the small details working quietly together.
After six years of designing apps and websites, I’ve noticed that “premium” is rarely about adding more. It’s about care. Here are seven small UI details I always check before calling a design finished.
Consistent spacing
Spacing is the invisible skeleton of a good interface. When gaps between elements follow a clear system, everything feels calm and organized. When they’re random, the screen feels messy, even if users can’t say why.
Try this: Use an 8-point grid. Every margin and padding should be a multiple of 8 (8, 16, 24, 32). It’s simple, and it works.
Thoughtful typography
Premium apps rarely use more than two typefaces. They rely on size, weight, and spacing to create hierarchy instead of adding more fonts.
Try this: Limit yourself to 3 or 4 text sizes, keep line height around 1.4 to 1.6 for body text, and make sure headings clearly stand apart from supporting text.
Conclusion
None of these details is difficult on its own. But together, they create the feeling people describe as “polished,” “trustworthy,” and “premium.”
Next time you design a screen, don’t ask only, “Does it work?” Ask, “Does it feel cared for?” That small shift changes everything.
